The ‘!’ must’ve been a clear indicator of the magnitude of this problem. If you browse my previous question (please do) I had a problem where my video is lost in system recovery. Luckily, I used MiniTool Power Data Recovery 6.6 and did found the video I was looking for. I recovered it but the problem is it won’t play. There was two video (.wmv) and the first one only plays but only showed the first frame (then the buffer bar keeps going but the video and audio stops there). the second one also only played the first frame but this time there were no video just a sound and then the buffer bar keeps going without any audio or video… why is it and are there any way of fixing it?… I don’t care if the software is free or not and it would be best if no download is required but if it can’t be helped, so be it. I just NEED THAT VIDEO BACK!!!
@agravanea I’m not sure which one to use. can you recommend one that is most suitable for this prob…

I asked a previous question, and the instructions I was given directed to this. I have no idea how to ‘Mark as answered’ so I deleted it (sorry if you don’t get points this way.) But as the question suggests, I need to know the instructions.

For example, a forum says:

Here is the standard Acer Recovery Instructions

1. Power on the machine
2. At the white ACER BIOS screen, hold the “Alt” key and press the “F10” key simultaneously to start Acer eRecovery
3.Once eRecovery has loaded, click “Restore to Factory Default Settings”
4.Click “OK” to continue
5.From here, the eRecovery process will update all the data on the C: drive and restore a fully functional factory image (approximately 10 minutes).
6.Once eRecovery has run, press “OK” to reboot unit

BUT, what are the instructions for an Advent laptop? Thanks for reading, and even bigger thanks if you can answer
By the way, repeatedly pressing F10 just opens boot startup options. Which isn’t helpful.

Alrite this actually two queries so plz help if u can. A mystery for you tech guys.

So my computer was acting slow & sluggish and i hadnt wiped my drives in ages so i did. I put the toshiba recovery disks, followed the instructions and now its in its factory state… BUT Toshiba satellite laptops have two hard drives C (main one 91g) and a back up D (110g). Now the C drive is good to go, but my D drive is nowhere to be found. How can I get it back? Thats 110 gigs i can use to put misc stuff.

Second Q) I backed up my vital stuff but i left alot of stuff I couldnt fit in my flash drives in that D drive (mostly 2g of music and some vids). Once I somehow restore my D drive, with your help, is that data recoverable. If not thats not to important compared to Q 1

Update: i did the old right click my computer to disk management and the drive now called disk 1 is there, online and “working” but its still blacked out and I would love to get access to it again. help i’m stumped.

Ok I cant find the option to format it anywhere its says unallocated if that helps also from the comouter management screen> storage> Disk Management.

First one to help me solve this gets the points

I’ve tried other recovery programs, and they don’t show all the videos/photos, that come up with Asoftech Data Recovery. I need one that shows the same files that show on Asoftech Data Recovery.

Please if anyone knows a program, let me know. I would like it to be completely free, LIKE I said, but if its free for only limited videos, i don’t mind. Better than paying $40-70 for 1 video I want to recover.
@michelle I was pretty clear. I reckon you just wanted extra points for that bogus answer….. if you dont know about computer stuff maybe you shouldnt be checking out this section…
THANKS GUYS SOOO MUCH! Recuva did the job omg! thank you <3

Ok so yesterday I made some alterations to a very long Wordpad document, I saved it and called it a night.
This morning when I opened it half the text was missing. There was no jumbled characters or error messages of any sort, but the document literally seemed to have been cut in half. I had the begining part but the end was just gone.

I have seen this happen a few times but usually it’s because of a power surge in the middle of typing a document. I’ve only had this happen once before under normal circumstances (programs and computer are shut down correctly) and it wasn’t a major deal, i’d only just started on that document. But this one had rather a lot of work put into it and although I have an older back-up copy it would be a royal pain to have to retype all the extra content.

Does anyone know…
A) What causes this?
B) How, if it’s possible, I might recover the lost text?

I’ve tried the “Recover text from any file” trick in Microsoft Word, but it didn’t work, most of the document was still missing.
The file size hasn’t decreased which makes it seem as if the data is still there somehow.
