‘Hard disk CMOS mismatch’ Hard Drive Error

When a computer system starts, its BIOS carries out Power On Self Test to check and ensure if all connected components are working correctly. If BIOS finds any issues, it returns some error messages to inform users. This only happens if BIOS can boot the system to an extent that it can access video subsystem. Some hard disk specific error messages show that it has got physically failed. It requires Data Recovery service as the solution. One of such error messages is:
“Hard disk CMOS mismatch”
Cause
Possible reasons of this error message can be:
• Changed hard disk settings in BIOS
• Hard disk failure, most likely due to disk controller issues
In some systems’ BIOS, whole amount of memory is stored as a setting. When POST is run, this value is compared with that of connected hard disk memory. Upon finding any mismatch in these amounts, an error, similar to above, is generated. It also generates if hard disk controller fails.
The same issue is also found with ard disks, which are booted first time after adding or subtracting memory.
Solution
• If BIOS settings is the issue, we need to correct it using autodetection procedure
• If hard disk is failed, users are advised to consult hard drive recovery software service programs to recover data and then replace the failed hard drive.
