What is the estimated price for external hard drive repair?

It is a Western Digital 500 GB external hard drive. It recently entered the stage where it is no longer recognized by my (or others’) computers.

I would like to know the estimated price for repair and just repair, data recovery is not necessary. Also if there are any suggestions on how to repair it myself, that would be greatly appreciated.

I believe it has something to do with the drive not spinning or some other common problem.

If you don’t need the data, then just buy a new hard drive. It would be cheaper than trying to get it repaired. If you do need the data and think repairing the drive will allow you to save the data, the chances of that are slim to none. Data recovery is not cheap. Most places I’ve checked charge from $1,000 and up.
